I know it may be a hot take, but I think that Indiana is one of the BEST states for fall activities…if you know where to look, there are SO many things to do and places to experience! Between the gorgeous fall drives and hikes, the bumpy hayrides out to the pumpkin field, picking the perfect apples at the orchard, the crisp air that carries the scents of hot apple cider and spiced donuts at every fall festival…the fall adventures in Indiana are abundant. To prove just how many things there are to do, I’ve searched high and low to round up over 50 of the best fall things to do in Indiana to create this “Fall in Indiana” travel guide! It’s packed full of nostalgic fall activities like apple orchards and pumpkin patches, but with the same amount of unexpected and unique fall things to do in Indiana too. Hillside Acres – Rossville, IN
Hillside Acres is a quaint, seasonal U-pick apple and pumpkin farm that will give you all the fall feels! They have an adorable farm market and an impressive sunflower trail. Not only is it a safe, family friendly environment, they have events to support local first responders and the staff could not be sweeter!

Tuttle Orchard – Greenfield, IN
One of Indiana’s most famous orchards, Tuttle Orchard offers a variety of fall activities on their farm! You can pick apples, dig in the massive corn pit, walk around the pumpkin patch, play in the Farmyard, visit the farm animals, and navigate your way through the corn maze. Stop by Tuttle’s Café and Sweet Shop and enjoy a beautiful view of the orchard and greenhouses while you eat.

County Line Orchard – Hobart, IN
County Line Orchard is the epitome of fall in Indiana…the miles of apple trees overflowing with ripe, crisp apples, the classic red barn filled with fall goodies and scents of the season, tractor rides, a huge kid area with animals and hands on activities, a giant corn maze (and a much smaller gummy bear maze for the littles), their moo choo train…it’s one of my favorite fall places in IN that I’ve been able to visit so far! The red barn is free to visit and shop around in, which is perfect if you’re just wanting a fun, free fall activity.

Lark Ranch – Loogootee and Greenfield, IN
Lark Rach has two locations, one in Loogootee and one in Greenfield (shown in the cover image). When I say this place has it all, I mean it! No matter which location you choose, your day will be jam packed with fall activities like the one mile train track, eight acre corn maze, pumpkin patch, the “Air Extreme”, jumping pillows, log jam, life size bird houses, gem mining, and so much more. Lark Ranch is definitely one of the best fall things to do in Indiana in my opinion!

Feast of the Hunters’ Moon Festival – West Lafayette, IN
October 11-12: This famous festival shows what it was like for French voyagers, soldiers and Native Americans as they gathered at Fort Ouiatenon to trade and barter for goods, food and furs! At the festival, you’ll see people in costumes and traditional garments from the time period as they sell and show their craft. The trading tents are set up with all kinds of things you can buy: leather goods like purses and saddle bags, hand made kids toys made from wood, pottery, soaps, jewelry, and so much more. This is definitely a fall festival in Indiana worth trying to visit!

The Orchard at Fair Oaks Farms – Fair Oaks, IN
Fair Oaks Farms is one of my favorite places to visit! And now that they have an apple orchard, and pumpkin patch, they definitely deserve a spot of this list of the best places to visit in Indiana this fall! With over 40 acres of apple trees to stroll through, and live music in the orchard every Saturday, The Orchard at Fair Oaks Farms is the perfect fall activity for the whole family.

Brown’s Accents Fall Festival – Attica, IN
Shop over 150+ vendors from all over Indiana and Illinois at Brown’s Accents Fall Festival. This Festival is one of my favorite FREE fall festivals and means that fall is “officially” here! You’ll find everything from boutiques, home decor, woodworkers, handmade, custom made, artists, yummy food trucks and so much more! Plus, they have everyone’s fall favorites like pumpkins, gourds, mums, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pies, pumpkin ice cream, cozy fall clothing and more!

McClure’s Orchard and Winery – Peru, IN
McClure’s Orchard and Winery is another U-pick pumpkin and apple farm complete with a café serving their homemade hard ciders and bakery goods. They even have a special tasting room in their café and a toll house for their hard cider and wines. Another thing I like about McClure’s is that there are animals on the farm that you don’t have to pay to see or pet.

Wea Creek Orchard – Lafayette, IN
Wea Creek Orchard is an apple orchard, pumpkin patch, market, and event barn. I have visited Wea Creek several times over the years and it’s always so relaxing. They are a smaller orchard compared to some, but have the cutest market and event space if you are looking for a 150 year old barn to host your event. If you want a laid back, relaxing outing with the family, head to Wea Creek Orchard!

IN Fire Towers
There are several fire towers across the state and they are SO underrated when it comes to seeing the fall foliage! I’ve climbed the one at Tippecanoe River State Park (shown in the cover image) and can’t wait to visit more this fall!

Exploration Acres – Lafayette, IN
Home to Northwest Indiana’s largest corn maze and pumpkin patch, Exploration Acres is your “home for family fun this fall”. They have activities for kids, adults, and every age in between. Rent a fire pit and enjoy a night of s’more making or take a hayride in the cool autumn air. There’s so much to do here, you can even rent their barn for your own special occasion. Their claim to fame as being the largest corn maze in Indiana is reason enough to add them to the list of best fall things to do in Indiana!

Java House: Fall Drink Menu
Java House coffee is an IN staple no matter the location, and they’re famous for delicious fall brews. Every year they drop a fall menu that is worth trying out on your way to grab your fall decor from TJ Maxx! Plus, they have some delicious breakfast options for those busy gameday mornings!

The Apple Works – Trafalgar, IN
The Apple Works has everything you could ever ask for when it comes to fall fun in Indiana! This famous 135 acre apple orchard is home to a variety of different animals that you can feed, a country store where they sell their famous apple dumplings, a 22 acre pumpkin patch, wagon rides, corn maze, train rides, bamboo maze, super slide, rope barn, playground area, and live music every weekend in September and October! .

The Bier Brewery – Indy, Carmel, Noblesville, IN
Famous for being central IN largest biergarten, The Bier Brewery takes fall very seriously! You can enjoy the gorgeous fall weather in their 2-acre biergarten (Noblesville location) while sipping their award winning pumpkin ale. They are family friendly with a playground and plenty of outdoor seating to watch the kids play.

Pleasant View Orchard – Fairland, IN
Pleasant View Orchard is a 40 acre orchard that has over 30 different varieties of apples to choose from. They are free to enter and you can also pick your own pumpkins in October. They have a concession stand with unique fall treats like hot apple cobbler a-la-mode and fried biscuits with fresh apple butter!

Star City Nights Festival – Lafayette, IN
September 26th – For one magical night, main street will be packed full of food trucks and vendors along with live music all night long! The festival is a great way to enjoy a crisp fall evening while eating some really great food and listening to some really cool music.

Lanesville Heritage Festival – Lanesville, IN
September 11-14th – Over 75,000 people attend this festival every year, and for good reason! Antique tractors, food, and craft vendors, tractor pulls, and a midway…it doesn’t get more Indiana than that!

Kiwanis Club of South Central IN Balloon Festival – Bloomington, IN
September 26-27th – Watch hot air balloons and skydivers soar at this cool fall festival! There’s also a Jeep show and shine, wine and beer garden, food and craft vendors, fireworks and more.

Waterman’s Family Farm – Indianapolis, IN
During their fall harvest festival (Oct 1-31), Waterman’s Family Farm has all kinds of things to do for the whole family: hayrides, a pumpkin eating dinosaur, train ride, spinning pumpkins and more!

Harvest Nights at Newfields – Indianapolis, IN
This is the perfect spooky, family-friendly activity for the whole family! The glowing pumpkins will help guide you’re way through the fog filled forest or take a ride on the Ghost Train. And if those chilly Indiana nights have you wanting something warm, sip on hot bourbon cocoa while you explore Mischief Manor.

The Barns at Nappanee – Nappanee, IN
Home of Amish Acres, The Barns at Nappanee offer “Fall Harvest Days” each year where you can experience fall in a different way than a typical orchard or pumpkin patch. See demonstrations of how to make apple butter and cider, visit the Sugar Creek Cabin and indulge in fudge, muffins, and a latte, or pick out mums, gourds, pumpkins, and Indian corn at the old cider mill and steam engine site.

Cornucopia Farms – Scottsburg, IN
A corn and soybean maze, wagon rides, farm fresh goodies, petting farm, cafe, and more! Cornucopia Farms offers something for everyone. Pick your own pumpkin from their pumpkin patch and grab some of their famous mums on your way out.

Kuehnert Dairy Farm – Fort Wayne, IN
Kuenhert Dairy Farm in Fort Wayne is such a fun option when it comes to fall fun! I’m a huge advocate for agritourism destinations, and this one is on my list to visit very soon. With tons of activities and games for kids, delicious food options, and classic fall fun like hayrides and a corn maze, it’s a one stop shop for all kinds of fall family fun in Indiana!

L&A Family Farm – Paris, IL
A short drive from Terre Haute, this farm in IL offers such a great variety of fall family fun: a sunflower field, pumpkin patch, corn maze, and hay rides! The close proximity to IN makes L&A Family Farm a great fall fun option for families in central/western IN!

Kelsay Farms – Whiteland, IN
Little ones and adults alike will love this unique fall experience in Whiteland, IN! Families can enjoy a 7 acre corn maze, a jumping pad, hay bale mountain, a moo choo, and more. Kelsay Farms also has lots of animals to love on, especially their dairy calves!

Russel Farms – Noblesville, IN
Russel Farms has a small country store, petting zoo, hayrides, bounce houses, mini golf, tons of pumpkins and more!

West Side Nut Club Fall Festival – Evansville, IN
You can expect a lot of fall fun from the Midwest’s largest street festival! Ranked in 2024 as the #1 fall festival in the country by USA Today, the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival has over 100 different food vendors, rides, parades, and tons of family fun.

Stauffer Farms – Markle, IN
October 4-5th: The fall festival at Stauffer Farms: Car & Craft Fest, has everything fall and more! You’ll be surrounded by vintage cars, perfect pumpkins, and beautiful mums while you enjoy food truck bites, hayrides, a live concert and local vendors.

Kent’s Cucurbits – Brookston, IN
If you’re in the market for pre-picked pumpkins, squash and gourds, then Kent’s Cucurbits is the perfect place for you! They also have a corn maze and their pumpkin-vine express

J&L Pickin’ Patch – Fort Wayne, IN
While they offer the most gorgeous summer you-pick flower fields, don’t skip out on J&L Pickin’ Patch for fall fun in Indiana. They have pumpkins of all kinds, a sunflower maze, and more!

Nappanee Apple Festival – Nappanee, IN
September 18 – 21st: If you’re an apple pie lover, then you’ll want a slice of the famous 300lb Nappanee Apple Festival pie (it’s so big, it can feed hundreds of people!) and you won’t want to miss out on all of the festival fun: a 5k, parade, midway, over 150 vendors, and more.

Zellers Market – Noblesville, IN
Zeller’s Market has any kind of mum or pumpkin you could want! They’re a beautiful one-stop-shop for both seasonal florals and produce!

Oak Hill Tree Farm – Crawfordsville, IN
Oak Hill Tree Farm has you-pick and pre-picked pumpkins, mums, apple cider slushes, a playground, a big slide, and more!

The Mill at Middlebury Market Under the Lights – Middlebury, IN
September 27th – This dreamy outdoor event is all about shopping from over 40 different boutique vendors at the Mill at Middlebury. String lights, live music, dozens of food vendors, and all your favorite boutiques all in one place for the perfect fall evening market.

East Union Farms Pumpkin Patch
This adorable family farm in Atlanta, IN has over 20 different fall activities that kids are sure to love: low ropes course, trike track, tire mountain, corn maze, sandbox, zip lines, straw tower, rope a cow, corn pit, hamster wheels, grain train, yard games, slides, and more! There is also no cost to enter the farm if you are just picking and buying pumpkins.

Thistleberry Farms – South Bend, IN
Thistleberry Farms has lots to do for the whole family! It’s FREE to visit the pumpkin and mum area, gift shop, donut barn, or concessions area, so if you’re looking for an affordable morning or evening of fall fun, it’s the perfect place! Or, you can pay to enter the activity side of the farm which includes: a corn pit, giant slide, moo choo, corn maze, jumping pillow, tractor rides, bubble station, pedal cars, giant tire playground, and more!

Ash and Elm Cider – Indianapolis, IN
Ash and Elm Cider isn’t an orchard or a pumpkin patch, it’s a cider bar located in Indianapolis…cool right?! Grab some friends, order a flight and make am excursion out of sampling and trying their killer menu. Ash and Elm is on my Indiana destination list to begin with, but in the spirit of all things apple, I included them to the list of best fall things to do in Indiana.

Beasley’s Orchard – Danville, IN
If you are looking for a great U-pick farm for apples and pumpkins (and any other kind of produce your heart desires), then look no further than Beasley’s Orchard! The barn that houses their market full of fresh produce was built shortly after the Civil War. They also have a really cool cider bar where they serve their “2020 Best Apple Cider in the State” winning cider! Beasley’s Orchard offers many fall festivals and events throughout the season, including a Hometown Heroes event where they honor First Responders and Military.

Huber’s Orchard – Borden, IN
Not only is Huber’s Orchard an orchard, it’s also a winery, café, and you-pick farm. They grow an abundance of fruits, vegetables, Christmas trees, pumpkins, and grapes! Visit the ice cream and cheese shops or take a lunch break at the Starlight Café located inside the winery building. Pick your bounty right from the field at Huber’s Orchard or head to the farm market to save some time for a visit to the bakery. Their impressive variety of activities earns them a spot on the list of the best fall things to do in Indiana.

Max and Honey’s You-Pick Farm – Brazil, IN
Their name is adorable and the grounds are full of fresh flowers and pumpkins…count me in! Max and Honey’s is a U-pick flower and pumpkin farm where you can spend all day exploring the flower fields, petting farm animals, and walking around the general store (which is located inside of a small grain bin, cute!)

PumpkinTown at Sullivan Hardware & Garden – Indianapolis, IN
PumpkinTown is a tradition at Sullivan Hardware! They have trick-or-treating, pumpkin decorating, delicious fall treats, the Sullivan Express train (tickets sell out fast!), and so much more! This is the perfect place to take the kids while you shop for those porch mums and pumpkins.

Spencerberry Farm – Noblesville, IN
Spencerberry Farm is another U-pick farm offering strawberries, asparagus, raspberries, pumpkins, mums, sunflowers, and Christmas trees. They have a market full of Amish meats, cheeses, fudge, ice cream, pies, honey, and a variety of other goodies!

Johnson’s Farm Produce – Hobart, IN
Home to the largest greenhouse in Northwest Indiana, Johnson’s Farm Produce is an impressive U-pick farm growing a ton of fruits and veggies. This place is a MUST for fall! They have a large sunflower field and offer so many fun fall activities for the kiddos. But, don’t let the kids have all the fun, head over to the gorgeous garden center and farm market and be inspired by the stunning display of annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, succulents, and more!

Hanna Haunted Acres – Indianapolis Indiana
Hanna Haunted Acres has been featured on ABC, USA’s Greatest Haunts, and are reasonably affordable! They have six different attractions including: Hanna Haunted Hayride, Undead, Blood Barn, Freakshow, Horror Fields, and Descension. If you are looking for that scare factor this year, Indiana Haunted Houses Website is a great resource and includes information on other spine chilling places like Indy Scream Park, Evil on Earie, and When Darkness Falls!

Doud’s Orchard – Denver, IN
One of the oldest orchards in Indiana offers the perfect vintage “vibe” when it comes to their orchard. The history of the orchard will surround you as you browse through the barn, sipping on fresh pressed cider!

Covered Bridge Festival – Parke County, IN
If you live in IN, then you know that Parke County Indiana is famous for it’s covered bridges. With 31 bridges total, you could easily spend the day exploring each one. But, one of the best ways to experience the bridges is to make a trip to the annual covered bridge festival held every year during the fall! It is the largest fall festival in Indiana and lasts ten days. I will be visiting for the first time this year, so be on the lookout on my socials for that adventure!

Cooks Orchard – Fort Wayne, IN
Cooks Orchard is full of delicious apples and plump, round pumpkins just waiting to be picked! In Cook’s Country Store you will find cider, jams, jellies, and local honey. They offer farm tours to larger groups, so this would be a great experience for any group looking for a fun fall outing. Cooks Orchard has a down home feel that will give you all the fall fuzzies. Plus, they have two of the cutest greeters around (Sophie and Bella – the Orchard’s two adorable Labs)!

Stuckey Farm Orchard and Cider Mill – Sheridan, IN
Looking for a relaxing U-pick apple experience? If so, then Stuckey Farm Orchard and Cider Mill is a great place to start. They are a working orchard that invites guests to take their pick from thirty five different varieties of apples. Head over to the country market and grab an apple cider donut and experience the rest of the farm by taking a trip through the corn maze, pumpkin patch, and sunflower field.

Conner Prairie – Fishers, IN
Conner Prairie is an incredible place to take kids, not just in the fall. They have corn mazes, animal encounters, hot air balloon voyages, a treetop outpost, a civil war journey, prairietown, and the a headless horseman hayride! It is truly a deep dive into history in a way that is hands-on and puts you right in the story. The uniqueness of Conner Prairie gets them a spot on the list of best fall things to do in Indiana!

Zoo Boo at the Indianapolis Zoo – Indianapolis, IN
As if the Indianapolis Zoo wasn’t already fun enough, they offer the “Zoo Boo” at the zoo! The activities include: pumpkin town, dance parties, a trick-or-treat trail (adult and child), mystery maze, train ride, and much more! The “Zoo Boo” is free and included with a ticketed admission to the Indianapolis Zoo. Kids and adults are both encouraged to dress up!

Kercher’s Sunrise Orchard – Goshen, IN
Take a free hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick out your perfect jack-o-lantern at Kercher’s Sunrise Orchard. This cozy little farm is packed full of pumpkins, apples, and has the cutest farm market where you will be able to find any fall treat your heart desires. They have rave reviews as a result of being consistently friendly, family-oriented, and an overall great place to get into the fall spirit!

Jacobs’ Family Orchard – New Castle, IN
Known for their donuts, this orchard is the perfect place to pick up some sweet treats while you browse the pumpkin patch, play in the play area, take a wagon ride through the orchard, and more!

Garwood Orchard – LaPorte, IN
Hop on the horse or tractor drawn wagons and head out to the orchards to pick apples! Garwood offers you-pick and market fresh produce, perfect for those fall baking festivities!

Anderson Orchard – Mooresville, IN
With over 100 acres to enjoy, the perfect way to experience Anderson Orchard is with a hayride. Stroll through the apple barn and pick up some fall goodies before heading out to pick apples and pumpkins. Be sure to stay up to date on their apple festival that happens every year!

Bledsoe Farms – French Lick, IN
Spend the day exploring the corn maze, pumpkin patch, and so many more fun family activities at Bledsoe Farms. They typically have baby animals during their fall season, so be sure to find them during your visit!

Countryside Orchard – Evansville, IN
This orchard will give you all the local, quaint, home-town orchard feels and they have an abundance of you-pick produce! Apples, pumpkins and whatever is in season is what you can find here. They are always offering fun events like grandparents day and tea time, so be sure to keep up on their social channels for those updates.
