I love researching, discovering, and visiting fun things and exciting places in Indiana, the kinds of places and things that aren’t always found in a Google search…so you’ll find a mixture of over 30+ unexpected places and well-loved locations in this guide! There’s a little something for everyone: whether you’re looking for spring break things to do in Indiana, or are a hiker, an indoor explorer, have little ones, or are looking for couples weekend getaways. Butterflies In Motion At the Fort Wayne Botanical Conservatory

April 15 – June 22: Thousands of colorful, tropical butterflies will call the Fort Wayne Botanical Conservatory home this spring and summer. Visit to see them flutter about while you stroll the beautiful, lush scenery.

Fair Oaks Farms

With what feels like endless options for exploration and adventure, Fair Oaks Farms lives up to the hype and is a great option for a kid-friendly weekend getaway in Indiana! They have an on-site hotel with a pool that will keep the fun going even after all the farm activities close for the evening.

Tulip Time at Harvest Tyme Family Farm

**April 19 – May. 11: For the first time ever (2025), Harvest Tyme will have, from what I have found, Indiana’s largest tulip field! With over 300,000 tulips in bloom, and plenty of other fun farm activities, Tulip Tyme is one of my must visit places this spring in Indiana.

Indy 500 and Indy 500 events

As an Indy 500 influencer this year, I am SO excited to be partnering with the Indy 500 and The Indianapolis Motor Speedway to showcase several events on my socials this race season! Aside of the Indy 500, you can also attend events like the Sonsio Grand Prix (May 10), Indianapolis 500 practice (May 13-15), Fast Friday (May 16), Qualifying weekend (May 17-18), Kid’s Day at Monument Circle (May 10), Indy 500 night at Victory Field (April 19) and several more. The city buzzes with celebrating businesses and events the entire month of May, so there is sure to be something for everyone!

Go Ape Adventure Park

Turkey Run State Park

There’s plenty of things to do for everyone at Turkey Run! You can kayak, hike, horseback ride, or camp in various areas of the park. The beauty and quietness when hiking the deep sandstone ravines make Turkey Run one of my favorite spring things to do in Indiana. You can also take a short drive to Shades State Park which is equally is beautiful and typically less crowded.

Shipshewana Trading Place Flea Market

In the heart of Amish country you will find quaint shopping and as many horse and buggies as there are cars. But, some of the coolest treasures can be found at the Trading Place Flea Market (May – September). With over 40 acres packed full of booths and vendors, there’s no shortage of spring fun here! When you’re done, hop over to Davis Mercantile just a few miles down the road, for indoor shopping, Jojo’s Pretzels and a ride on the carousel.

Train Things to Do

If you have been here for a while, you know that we love to visit anything and everything train in Indiana! So, a few places we’d like to visit this spring are The Hesston Steam Museum (Hesston, IN / opens May 10th), Hoosier Valley Railroad (North Judson, IN / we have been here before and love it), the Monon Connection Museum and Whistle Stop (Monon, IN), The Easter Bunny Express on White Water Valley Railroad OR The Easter Express on The Nickel Plate Express, Griffith Historical Museum and Train Depot (Griffith, IN) and The Railway Garden at Gabis Arboretum Purdue Northwest (model trains run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from May through October, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Heritage Farms Alpaca Trek

Heritage Farms is a 120 acre alpaca farm where you can book overnight farm stays, weddings and events, and day visit experiences: including their newest experience…alpaca trekking! Enjoy the warm spring weather with your friends and family as you each take your very own alpaca on a trek around the farm.

55th Annual Orleans Dogwood Festival

April 19 – 26: “Indiana’s Dogwood Capital” knows how to celebrate spring with this week long festival! Enjoy the hundreds of blooming Dogwood trees as the festivities take place: car show, parades, a 5K, food vendors, carnival rides, and more.

35th Annual Mansfield Mushroom Festival

April 20 – 21 & 27 – 28: This might just be the most “Indiana” thing on this list of spring things to do in Indiana! The Mansfield Mushroom Festival will have a car show, local shopping, live mushroom auction and contest, live music, and food options like morel pizza.

Mansfield, IN

Fairy, Gnome & Troll Festival

May 17: This free family friendly event includes a variety of activities from 70+ booths: food, games, free kid’s activities like face painting and balloon art, a fairy tea party, visits from Tinker Bell and unicorns, and so much more! Families and kids are encouraged to dress up which I think is so fun for little ones. There is also the Indiana Enchanted Fairy Festival at Heartland Hollows Lavender Farm (May 17-18) if this kind of event is something you enjoy.

Kendallville, IN

Indiana Dunes National Park

I love Indiana Dunes…it is unlike any place in Indiana and the perfect day trip to cure that cabin fever. There’s plenty of beach space, gorgeous hikes (I recommend the dune succession trail for the best views – pictured here) and there’s amazing restaurants and shops in the surrounding towns, especially Chesterton.

Brown County, IN

The Landing

Downtown Fort Wayne is becoming quite the destination for foodies! The Landing is home to some incredible restaurants and shopping, and the Fort Wayne Children’s zoo, which is just minutes away from The Landing, is perfect for kids to spend the day exploring. Falls of the Ohio State Park

Ever wanted to explore and touch fossils on a 390 million year old fossil bed?! Falls of the Ohio State Park is located right on the Ohio river and its exposed Devonian fossil beds are some of the largest in the world. Spend a warm Indiana spring day walking on the fossil beds and exploring the interpretive center.

Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

If you have little ones, The Children’s Museum is a wonderful spring thing to do in Indiana! Our favorite exhibit, The Dinosphere, is incredible for all ages and the museum is constantly adding new exhibits and places for kids to explore. Hobnob Market

Hobnob is a vintage and handmade market that takes place twice a year, they have a spring market and a winter market. There’s tons of vendors and great vintage finds! So, if you love thrifting or vintage items, this Indiana vintage market is perfect for you.

Indiana Flower and Patio Show

Located at the Indianapolis fairgrounds, this indoor spring market is the perfect way to gain inspiration for your back patio this spring! There’s tons of home and patio experts and exhibits to browse through.

The Hedge Labyrinth at New Harmony

Make sure you bring your best dress to run through this gorgeous labyrinth! The spring weather makes it the perfect time to stroll, not many bugs and plenty of sunshine.

French Lick

Between Wilstem animal encounters, the drive-through safari and Big Splash Adventure indoor waterpark, French Lick is an amazing place to spend spring break in Indiana!

White River State Park

Stroll among the Japanese cherry trees in their full bloom at White River State Park. There are quite a few places where you can rent a bike, scooters, a pedalboat, or you can just walk to see all the beautiful trees and canal.

xZooberance at the Indianapolis Zoo

The Indianapolis Zoo loves spring, and they celebrate it with 16 days of non-stop spring fun at the zoo! Enjoy music, activities, crafts, butterflies, animals, and more.

Shop from tons of local businesses as you browse for antiques, handmade, and repurposed treasures at this spring event! There is live entertainment and plenty of food, so be sure to mark this Indiana spring market one on your calendar.

Haute Hops and Vines Festival

May 3: Tickets to this lively event in Terra Haute, IN will include unlimited samples of over 100+ different beer, wine, and spirits from 20+ Indiana breweries, wineries and distilleries. There will also be local food trucks, live music and free parking.

Indy Mommy Market

This spring inspired Indy pop-up market is full of boutique and handmade vendors. There are lots of vendors who cater to moms, but there is a little something for everyone: home décor, gifts, and more!

Live Music and Food Trucks at The Sycamore Winery

Grab a wine slush, hit up your fav food truck, and grab a seat on the patio as you listen to the band play the night away (May 6th). The perfect start to summer starts with family friendly Indiana events like one in Terra Haute, IN!

6th Annual ‘Rock the Junction’ Craft Beer & Music Festival

Check out Grand Junction Brewing Co. in Westfield, IN for 20+ breweries, wineries, and distilleries. Sip on your drinks will you walk around and listen to the bands on stage.

Petite Chou Bistro

Enjoy a girls day out starting with lunch at Petite Chou Bistro! They update their outdoor décor with the seasons, and this spring’s décor is absolutely dreamy.

Badlands Off-Road Park

Whether you have an ATV, Jeep, bike, dirt bike, or another 4×4, the Badlands is the perfect way to shake off those winter blues. There’s over 1.400 acres of trails and terrain for any skill level at this Attica, IN off-road park, so it’s perfect for the whole family!

Indiana Beach

There are over 40 different rides and attractions at Indiana Beach! It’s a one stop shop with lodging options near by, food at the park, and a carnival/fair like theme…the perfect way to celebrate spring in Indiana.
